A MIRACLE; SHIVA PUJA BY KING COBRA AT THEPPERUMANALLUR

THEPPERUMANALLUR IS SITUATED IN KUMBAKONAM THANJAVUR DISTRICT TAMILNADU. ALREADY KUMBAKONAM IS FAMOUS FOR VARIOUS TEMPLES AND ITS CALLED AS A TEMPLE CITY.

I USED TO GO THERE TO MY UNCLES HOUSE EVERY VACATION AND AT THAT TIME ITS MY FLAIR TO VISIT ALL TEMPLES IN AND AROUND KUMBAKONAM.  I USUALLY SEARCH AND GO FOR TEMPLES WHICH DOES NOT BECOME POPULAR.

WHEN I WENT THERE FOR PONGAL HOLIDAYS DURING 2010 I CAME TO KNOW ABOUT THE TEMPLE IN THEPPURMANALLUR.  WE WENT TO THE TEMPLE ON BHOGI DAY AND WORSHIPPED THE GOD AND GODESS THERE.  SHIVA LINGAMS NAME IS VISWANATHASWAMY AND GODDES IS VEDHANTHANAYAGI AMMAN.  USUALLY ARCHANA IN THIS TEMPLE IS DONE ONLY BY RUDRAKSHAM.

AFTER WE VISITED AND CAME IT HAPPENED ON JANUARY 15TH SOLAR ECLIPSE DAY THAT BIG RAJA NAGAM DID ARCHANA TO THE SHIVA LINGAM WITH VILVA LEAVES PLUCKED BY IT FROM THE VILVA TREE ON THE BACKSIDE OF THE TEMPLE WHICH IS WITNESSED BY LOTS OF DEVOTEES AND TEMPLE PRIEST COVERED THE ENTIRE EVENT OF KING COBRA DOING ARCHANA IN HIS MOBILE CAMERA.

AFTER HEARING THIS EVENT FROM MY UNCLE ON MY NEXT VISIT I WENT TO THE TEMPLE.  I HEARD THE EVENTS FROM THE MAIN PRIEST OF THE TEMPLE AND HE CAME AND SHOWED ME THAT VILVA TERR WHERE THE SNAKE CLIMBED TO PLUCK THE LEAVES AND HOW IT WENT CRAWLED THROUGH THE ABISHEGA THEERTHAM HOLE. THEN HE TOLD AS WE SEE IT WENT STRAIGHT INSIDE THE GHARBHA GRAHA AND IT DID ARCHANA WITH THE VILVA LEAVES BY KEEPING IT SHIVA LINGAMS HEAD.

THE PICTURE HE COVERED IN MOBILE CAMERA ALSO HE SHOWED WE SURPRISED TO SEE IT.  HE ALSO TOLD THAT IT DID ARCHANA LIKE THAT CONTINOUSLY THREE TIMES.  PL YOU ALSO VIEW THE PICTURES SO THAT ALL WILL KNOW THAT IN KALI KALAM ALSO MIRACLE HAPPENS AND GODS POWER IS THERE BEYOND HUMAN BEINGS.

The priest opened the sanctum doors
at about 10:30 AM and went to fetch water.
At that time he noticed a Cobra descending from the
Temple Vilva (Bilva) tree carrying a Vilva leaf in its mouth.
It entered the Sanctum of Sivalinga, went around the
Vigraha and dropped the leaf on top of the Linga.
Then they saw the same being repeated one more time
carrying a Vilva leaf and putting it on the Siva Linga.
The Priest explained “It is doing the archana during
the Solar Eclipse time to wash off its sins”.
The Naga Serpent has been regularly visiting the Siva
Idol for the last three SOLAR ECLIPSES.
The priest and some locals had arranged for a
photographer a few months back during Sooriya Grahanam.
In fact, they had kept milk offering also for the Naga.
But the snake did not appear on the day.
On this particular  SOLAR ECLISE Grahanam day
when the priest opened the Sanctum Sanctorum he saw
the snake on the top of the Siva Linga idol.
He immediately called Mr. Thenappan the photographer
who lives in Thrunagesvaram a kilo meter from this village.
Meantime a dozen or more people including my house
caretaker had assembled to witness this miracle.
In front of their eyes the Naga went back to the
“Vilwa tree” plucked the leaves and came back all the way
to drop it on the Siva Linga.
All these have been photographed by Mr. Thenappan
(photos received directly from the photographer annexed).
It may be pertinent to note that many of the residents
of this  VILLAGE (Agaraharm) are named Nagarajan
or Nagalingam for a few generations .
